Ayatollah Kashani Says Iran's Flag Hoisted Worldwide
September 9, 2000 - 0:0
TEHRAN Substitute leader of the Tehran Friday prayer Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani said yesterday Iran's flag has been hoisted across the globe.
Addressing thousands of worshippers gathered in the Tehran University campus for the weekly congregational prayers, Ayatollah Kashani commented on the Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei's recent message to the UN Millennium Summit in New York and said what was the most brilliant in the summit was Islam while adding that there the Leader's message was on the spotlight.
The peace, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution had recommended in his message is a peace that proceeds from the deep thoughts of the peoples, their authentic understanding from the realities and the human dignity not from the intimidation or terror, he remarked.
He went on to say that President Khatami in his speech in the UN Millennium Summit elaborating on the dialog among civilizations explained important points of the Islamic religion and values.
Responding to the protests of the supporters of the reformist faction against the repeated bans put on the pro-reform papers in Iran, Ayatollah Kashani upheld the Judiciary's move to close down the newspapers and wondered why some in the country criticized the Judiciary for banning the newspapers.
He noted that backing such newspapers was infidelity to the ideals of the late Founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, and the blood of the martyrs.
In other countries in the world if a newspaper contributes to efforts to overthrow the ruling system, the government puts an end to its activities, Ayatollah Kashani remarked.
He called on the Iranians to defend the revolutionary values and urged them to respect the ideals of the late Imam Khomeini, to trust the Velayat-e Faqih (Islamic Jurisprudence) and to pay homage to the martyrs.
Ayatollah Kashani further called on the three branches of the government to try and render more service to the people, to continue to protect the national security and to generate job opportunities for the unemployed in the country.
